In response to your posting.
I agree entirely. It is unfortunate that due to the
irresponsible actions of the "spammers", UCE has become a
wholly illegal activity online. As a new business in the UK
we have recently sent out e-mails to a very targeted
audience of "potential" new clients. We have been very
careful to make the e-mails informative and relevant and the
response has been very good, with two companies actually
commending us on using e-mail in this way. To date out of 27
responses only 3 have requested that we remove them from our
mailing. In fact most are very happy that we made contact in
this way. Why then should we stop marketing our services in
this way if the majority of our target audience is happy
with what we are doing? Who has the right to label UCE as
Spam? Only the recipient of the message can possibly decide.
Not the ISP, and certainly not an external third party who
is remote from the business environment!
