Affiliate programs - Any suggestions?

Hi All,

We're about to try a new model of exploitation of affiliate
programs revenue and would appreciate your suggestions.
Please help us find the best partners. I will later send a
digest from collected information to all of you who
contribute to our research.

Here's what we need:

We will publish and distribute our own program that was
designed to serve as promotional gift. Instead of a paid
sponsorships we will place advertising information about
several affiliate programs, and distribute it as a freeware.

Users of our program will be ordinary people who use the
computer in their work for the work and not for the love of
computers itself. People who want result. People who like a
good design. People who like things to be simple and
effective.

We expect that our market will be among students (non
technical) and small business owners. Program in question is
personal organizer. You can see a bit simpler version of
this program if you jump to:

http://www.artplus.hr/adapps/eng/easynote.htm

(However, if you're interested to hear how we plan to use
it, you should mail me at artplus_at_artplus.hr since this
information is not available at our site. Also, version 1.6
will be available next week. It includes ability to jump to
the web or send mail by right-clicking on URL or e-mail
address within the note.)

At this point we're looking for good affiliate programs that
are targeting the similar demographics offering content like
fun, entertainment, books, arts, science, business services,
on-line stores, credit cards, financial services...

I know that there are some good affiliate directories, but
would prefer first hand information from you. Did you enter
some good affiliate program that pays well? Are you
satisfied?

Also, I believe that some people on this list may have their
own affiliate programs. I don't mind getting their sales
pitch straight to my inbox. I will not consider it
unsolicited mail. Not this time anyway :-)

We plan to include up to 100 affiliate information with our
program, all well described (not just naked links or
banners). We want them all to be really the cream of the
crop, and useful to our targeted audience (as described
above)! Think of this list as a sort of a great collection
of useful bookmarks that you would like to have yourself.

By the way, we expect the support and collaboration from
owners of this affiliate programs. We do not intend to enter
some automatic affiliate setup with nobody!

I thought I should mention that before you start bombarding
us with links to some affiliate of affiliate's affiliate
programs :-)

Thanks.

I am about to start running a server and I'd like to cover
some of the costs by providing some space for charged
advertising. Could anybody please give some information -
common strategies, where best to search for an advertiser,
companies providing services like this, etc.

Thanks in advance,
