I don't think any of us have the perfect solution.
But here's a comment to those who DON'T want ANY unsolicited
commercial email: Please keep your personal information
including your email address OUT of online industry and mass
directory lists.
For example ... if you're adamantly against email ... don't
let The Industry Standard place your ego-driven profile
complete with your email address. Mom and Dad already have
it!
Further, I suggest you don't complete a personal profile
with Yahoo! ... then complain because you're contacted with
investment information keyed off the "I like to manage my
own portfolio of high-tech stocks" information you provided.
What the heck did you expect when you filled out those
personal profiles?
If you truly value your privacy so much that you're
irritated by hitting a delete key ... then don't help the
email marketer by providing a well defined target.
Methinks the lady doest protest too loudly.
