Re: AdverNET '99 COVERAGE: Measuring Performance

I can certainly understand that advertisers would like to
know who is looking at their ads, clicking through, and when
relevant, buying. But I wonder if this report is a little
misleading. I may be wrong, but as I understand it (and
from looking at the logs of my web) unless somebody actually
fills out a form on the site giving demographic information,
the advertiser has no way of knowing your actual e-mail
address, only the domain name of the provider from which you
are accessing the Net. For example aol, mclink.it (in my
case), military, corporate, edu addresses etc. Also, many
surfers (me included) refuse cookies and turn off javascript
on purpose. Do they measure that, too? If I am
misinformed I'm happy to be corrected.
Best regards to all,
logan bentley
