Well, I always say that "If you feed the spider, you
feed the man," but just because a site is submitted
doesn't mean it is going to be ranked, or even found.
We all know the computer adage, "Garbage in, garbage
out." If you have a poorly optimized site for search
engine relevancy, or if your site doesn't offer an
acceptable appearance for the human reviewers of a
search directory, frequent submissions are futile.
The only thing frequent submissions will do is insuring
you will be frequently listed near the bottom of 500+
search engines. There is no magic in the submission to
the engines, the magic in the way your HTML is
structurally designed and optimized for the engines and
the quality of appearance for the directories.

Do NOT, NOT, NOT set up your pages to be automatically
submitted to the engines on some interval. It can be
the kiss of death for your rankings.
Test your current web ranking BEFORE your submit your
web page. If you have a good ranking, AND if you have
changed either the file size or file date AFTER you
originally submitted your site and achieved your great
ranking, DO NOT resubmit. You, in all likelihood will
LOSE your ranking. Search engine algorithms change,
more competitors are now in existence. How do I know
this, I have did this to my own site two years ago!!
Never more.
ROBERT WOODHEAD ELABORATED:

Well, yes, this is true. But the ranking is not in the
'technical' aspect of submission, the ranking is in
the 'art' of how you submit -- that is what separates
how your site will perform in the search directories.
