Web ad rates

We are in the process of developing a website for our
3,400 physician member association (Mississippi State
Medical Association) which will provide a multitude of
services for our members and the general public. A
special "members only" page provides specialized
services, including a physician referral database by
specialty and location as well as links to other
health-related and physician sites. While I do not want
to outprice the market I don't want to undermine the
value of this exclusive statewide physician market
either. I have no idea what the traffic is like on the
site. My question is: How do I determine an
advertising rate structure for banner ads?

I have a pretty good idea about what to charge for
member and non-member classifieds and am considering
offering value-added combination buys with our monthly
magazine. Any insight on this subject will be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks.
