I think market segmentation is important to reach your
get ur website fully functional. and earn revenues. i
have two points of view:

1. internet can be perceived as one more media vehicle
to access the millions of potential customers out
there. So it is important to use a collection of all
the media. Lets assume an online toy shop: lets assume
the target audience are mothers with kids between 2-13
and kids between 2-13. It would be possible to reach
mothers through other baby products, reach kids thru
day care homes etc. So we must be use other forms of
media to reach the target audience we are targeting in
the online world.

But let me argue for the second opinion that i have:

The very beauty of internet is that it can offer mass
customization. You can serve each and every one who
fits on your product profile. Lets take the same
example of toys. Toys can be given as gifts to lovers.(
teddy bears), or toys can be kept as showcases.One
could find a variety of applications for the same
product. SO lets make the best of this opportunity to
do all the above in a smart way. We understand what the
visitor is looking for and create an evironment for
him/her to shop for. If its a mother lookin for some
toys for here kid, take here to the babies page.. give
content on babycare along with toysand sell baby toys.
If there is a lover who wants to gift. give content on
holday places,exotic locations,sell it.. etc.. I think
we can incorporate mass customisation is any product
we want to operate in.We can be what the user wants us
to be. I am open to criticism.. and ur views on this
subject.
