Affiliate Sites

Hi,

I was looking into affiliate marketing programs and
wondering if they really work.

BeFree wants a $5000 set up fee plus 2% commission
subject to monthly minimums. Am I really going to
generate the kind of sales I need to justify such an
expense?

We can't go for the free programs, because we have a
policy of not placing other's banners on our site, so I
am not looking for an exchange program.

Do these large affiliate marketing programs work best
with more than one product line? We have 3 sites, each
sells one brand of shoe, but all three market just
footwear. Is this a diversified enough line for a
program like BeFree?
