In response to Stacy Williams inquiry about email
marketing vendors. If I am understanding your
question, you are looking for a vendor to store,
distribute and report on a series of email lists that
your clients have created. We faced a similiar
problem.
I've spent a good part of the last 6 months researching
vendors that have the ability to send personalized
messages to unique groups of sports fans based on team
affiliation, geography, usage of our service, etc.
These vendors only started to pop up since last spring.
Here are some recommendations.
http://www.responsys.com has great technology, good
tech support, and a good reputation. Sales follow up
is a bit slow because they are having a tough time
keeping up with client demand. Advanced reporting and
features, I like them- worth a good look.
We use a local Atlanta company called Socketware <
http://www.socketware.com > . Tech support is good and
their prices are very affordable. We have some pretty
robust demands, and they have been able to keep us
happy. Downside- still developing their professional
services, and an HTML version of their service is still
in development due out mid Feb.

Run by a colleague, Tom Barnes, who has done a lot of
research on different vendors- he has a brutally honest
critique of each.
