As an alumnus of MyPoints.com, I can vouch for the
effectiveness of their opt-in email ads. They are
targetable on a large number of variables. So you can
easily geo-target (by state, city, even ZIP code). Or
you can be more sophisticated: say you want to target
soccer moms in Marin county. You could mail to women
age 25-44 who like sports, have children, and live in
the right ZIP code.
I think you can get basic advertising information at
http://www.mypointsinc.com. Last I checked, the
minimum buy was about $15,000. The cost is about 29
cents a piece, plus the cost of any "points bonus" you
give people who say yes to your ad (highly
recommended). They have over 5 million members now, so
they are likely to have a decent sized list for almost
any combination of target variables. Response rates of
5 percent are very common.
I'll be using them myself next month.
