Hi Naomi, and all!

I'm responding not directly to Naomi's post, but hope to get an answer 
about Bulk E-Mail!  The Internet Commerce bibles tell ya NOT to send bulk 
e-mail -- it's like junk surface mail, bothers people, clogs ISPs, etc.

Can I assume there are bulk e-mail services who collect mailing lists and 
such, how and where do you find?

 Can you get as narrow a list as you might from a print mailing 
list/label service? Working with a video producer to distribute his 
previously tv broadcast programs to schools, libraries, and collectors -- 
Arizona history & cultural heritage -- any suggestions how to reach high 
schools, community colleges & universities - department level preferred.

I thought this may be of interest:

At the recent Internet World in San Jose, I spoke with the representative 
of
Yahoo, questioning her about the agreement with P&G - she said that they
didn't feel it was the right way to measure success and that it was P&G's
idea and who were they to argue...

Also - to a point someone brought up a few weeks ago that they would 
never
advertise that way because they would not have control of the cost - they
may plan to spend $300 but end up being charged $3,000. The Yahoo rep 
said
that would never happen because you can put a ceiling on the arrangement
(not to exceed $300 worth of advertising).

    Although it may be almost as controversial as junk email,
click thru advertising seems to be growing.

    Interactive Age (http://techweb.cmp.com/ia/dailies/market.htm)
reports the following rates for click thru:

    o   Jumbo!(http://www.jumbo.com) between 31 and 48 cents per ad 
click. 
    o   InfoSeek ($1.36 per ad click)
    o   Web Review editorial site ($1.27 per ad click)

    Responses at Jumbo!, a shareware download site, are running at
2.06 - 3.2, varying by the type of application.
